Hi there,
My name is Angie Gorman and I am the mother of 10 year old Olivia Rose Gorman, She is one of six children, Her Dad is medically retired from the Army, and me (mom) is an educator! She loves to sing, draw, and be a kid. Olivia was born with a rare congenital heart disease (1 in 5%). She had my first open-heart surgery at 1 year old, aortic arch repair. Since then, her life has been pretty busy with hospital stays, illnesses and surgeries. We have had to travel around to a few states now to get answers for her condition (Philadelphia, PA; Ohio; NY, etc.). As her mother, one thing I refuse to do is to never give up on finding an answer for her, Olivia is so grateful for that because she wants to be able to live a normal kids life one day. Olivia recently had my second open-heart surgery this past July 2024 in Cincinnati, Ohio, An aortic uncrossing. We had high hopes this would be the last one to help her, but unfortunately, since September of 2024, she has been in and out of the hospital and been sick a lot too. As of May 2025 we have traveled back to Ohio to get answers as to why Olivia is still dealing with her issues, In June 2025 Olivia has a triple scope done in Ohio on her airway where they decided they will now be going in to do a - So tracheopexy, A tracheopexy is a surgical procedure that supports the airway (windpipe) to prevent its collapse, most commonly used for severe tracheomalacia (a weakened windpipe) and certain cases of recurrent tracheoesophageal fistula (TEF). The procedure involves a surgeon securing either the back wall of the trachea to the spine (posterior tracheopexy) or the front to the breastbone (anterior tracheopexy). This procedure provides a lasting solution by holding the airway open, allowing for free airflow
As of right now, I (Angie) am the only provider for our family. We are hoping to raise some funds to help with medical, hotel, gas and any other expenses & to take the burden off my shoulder while I am out to take care of Olivia. We are currently on the waitlist for the Ronald Mcdonald house, Olivia's insurance does not cover hotel stays either.
It truly takes a village to help one another. ♥️♥️♥️
Much love, The Gorman Family
