Hi! My name is Olivia and I am a junior at Academie Ste. Cecile International School in Windsor, Ontario.

I am fundraising to support my effort to get an education and to play the sport that I love best: ICE HOCKEY! I have been playing hockey since I was seven years old. I learned to play and to love the game in an undersized tented ice rink in Moscow, Idaho, where my family was living at the time. My family has since moved to the Detroit metro area. Once there, I played club hockey with Little Caesars and with Belle Tire. Eventually, I was recruited to join Ste. Cecile's inaugural girls hockey team. This has been one of the best hockey experiences of my life. I have great teammates and terrific coaches. Playing on this team has provided the supportive and competitive environment that I need to develop as both a person and as an athlete. My dream is to play hockey for a Division One college program, and I am working toward that dream every day. I believe that dream is in reach, given my play on the ice and my high grade point average.

Unfortunately, as a private school, attending Ste. Cecile is not free. I must commute daily from our home in suburban Detroit to Windsor over the border and back every day during the school year. The cost of the fuel and tolls is expensive, and I am frequently stopped at the border to be searched, which sometimes causes me to be late for school or for practice. Furthermore, the commuting diminishes the time that I have for doing homework or getting much-needed rest.

To solve this problem, I am raising money to pay the residential tuition. By living at school during the week, I hope to save time and avoid the difficulties associated with crossing the border every day. I know that this can only improve my academic and athletic performance. Unfortunately, my family does not have the funds to pay for me to be a boarding student, in part, because of unexpected major health expenses.
