Support Olivia: Teacher in Crisis
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Olivia.
I'm an Israeli-American and Queer Jew living in Chicago with my dog Athena.
Like so many of us facing the rapidly changing political climate and horrid economy, no matter how hard or often I work, I'm still struggling to make ends meet.
I'm currently a teacher in the public school system, and they've unexpectedly revoked all bonuses earnt without notice or warning. Between that situation I've been blindsided with and inflation, keeping up has been impossible. Functionally, my income was cut by approximately 40% nearly overnight.
I am looking for other employment with better pay, but in the meantime,we still need to be able to survive.
All I want is to survive, keep a roof over our heads, and keep myself & Athena fed.
I'm behind on rent & struggling to keep up with other bills and necessities.
I've tried to reach out to various Jewish organisations for help, but it hasn't been successful.
I understand, as much as it's frustrating, as I'm not the only one in this situation.
Returning to Israel isn't an option currently, as my kibbutz was destroyed.
So now I'm reaching out to my friends and community for help.
Every bit helps, no matter if you feel it isn't much.
Athena and I appreciate anything, even if it’s just passing this along to others that may help.
Thank you so much.
