My name is Heather Barlow and I’m raising funds for medical expenses associated with my grandaughter. Joey Barlow, Lieutenant at the Batesville, MS Fire Department, and Marley Barlow, Corporal at the City of Oxford, MS Police Department, gave birth to Olivia Dawn, on April 15, 2025 at Regional One Hospital in Memphis, TN. Joey and Marley have both dedicated their lives to serve others and help those in need. Now they are the ones in need.
Miss Olivia was born with a right-sided diaphragmatic hernia. Her parents did not even get to hold their precious angel when she was born due to having to be immediately intubated. She has already undergone surgery to repair the hernia, but that is just one of Olivia’s medical issues. Olivia was born with a congenital heart condition, Transposition of the great arteries (TGA.) This is a defect where the two main arteries leaving the heart are reversed. Along with TGA, Olivia’s right ventricle is extremely small compared to the left one. She had a heart cath today, May 9th, and in order to see the heart better, a CT scan or MRI needs to be done. Once they are able to view Olivia’s heart in it’s entirety, we will know better what we are dealing with and whether surgery will be the next step.
Olivia is in the NICU at LeBonheur Children’s Hospital in Memphis, TN. We were told today that she will remain there for the foreseeable future. Joey and Marley have to travel from Batesville, MS to Memphis, TN to be with Olivia.
This fundraiser will help with medical expenses incurred along with travel expenses. First and foremost, we ask for your prayers for Olivia, Joey, Marley and the rest of our family. Secondly, if you feel led to contribute to this fundraiser, each and every contribution will be greatly appreciated and will not go unnoticed. We thank you in advance for your help!
