Hey Ya'll!

A group of friends are coming together to raise funds for our community member & friend Olivia.

As many of you are might be aware on this past Friday, April 17, Olivia was fired from Marsha's (a bar local to Philly) after raising concerns about the environment of the bar and how misogyny, transphobia and antiBlackness was being perpetuated in the bar and was negatively impacting her, her coworkers and bar guests.

After raising these concerns to upper management Olivia was reprimanded by upper management this was then followed by having her employment terminated and the police called on her.

Why is this important?

Olivia is a beloved member of our Black QT Community in Philly. She created an environment at Marsha's that welcome other Black queer people in the space. She was also aiming to support the growth of the bar through intentional service that centered Black trans people and Black queer people who entered the bar. A direction that the bar seems to want to move away from.

The termination of her job is unjust because the only precipice for it was the concerns she raised regarding antiBlackness, transphobia, and misogyny. Instead of heading concerns from a member of their staff, the management of Marsha's escalated the aforementioned issues, terminated her, and invited further actions of violence by inciting the police on her.

The Ask:

At this time Olivia is in the process of seeking legal counsel and support to cover living and medical expenses. This is where we come in! If you are able to, we ask that you consider donating to the fund to allow us to collectively provide material & financial resources for Olivia.
