My name is Oliver and I came out as transgender 4 years ago. Since coming out as transmasc, I have been binding regularly using chest-compressing binders from gc2b, fytist, and other brands. Binding regularly for 8+ hours every day has taken a huge toll on my physical health. I already had issues with mobility, but binding has made moving and breathing even more difficult, especially with what I regularly do. I work a very physically-demanding job at ScrapRVA, a local creative reuse nonprofit. My average workday consists of being on my feet for most of my 8 hour shifts as well as lifting 20+ pounds of donations and supplies everyday. I volunteer at local community gardens as well as work in my own garden, which involves being outside in the heat & sun for multiple hours, lifting 20+ pounds, bending over, and more. I also attend local RVA markets as a vendor with my small business, Oli's Oddities, which is very physically-demanding. With all of these things that I regularly and actively do while wearing a binder, my health has taken a huge toll.
I would love to get top surgery, as I know it would be life-changing for me. These funds would be used for paying for surgery, as well as the costs associated with recovery and covering my bills while on work leave.
You can help support me getting top surgery by:
- Donating here to my GoFundMe and sharing.
- Buying my work at markets, ScrapRVA's ReVision Gallery, Circle Thrift & Art Space, and through my website.
- Sending me a tip on Venmo or (make sure to add a note saying that this is for my top surgery fund).
