Hello Everyone- I have been the coach of the high school girls rugby team in Chico for the past four years. Last year both the boys and girls rugby clubs were able to travel to Ireland for Rugby. It was the first Rugby Tour the Chico Rugby Club Organization had done and it was awesome. It was an amazing experience for everyone and the memories they created will be with them for the rest of their lives.
I was not able to travel and participate with my team because I did not have enough money to do so. Fortunately, for the Ireland tour, an experienced member of Chico Rugby stepped in as the coach for the Wild Oaks. I was disappointed that didn’t go. I don’t have many regrets in my life but I do regret not going to Ireland with my team (and especially Olive.)
Next year, March of 2026, the Wild Oaks Girls HS rugby club is traveling to New Zealand for their next rugby tour and once again I cannot afford to pay for both Olive and I to travel. I feel our team would benefit immensely having me travel with them to New Zealand and coaching the girls actually in NZ would be mind bottling. New Zealand has a rich and embedded rugby culture and are a dominant, consistent force at all levels of local and international rugby play. So, I’ve put aside my pride and am humbly asking for donations to help fund Myself and Olive’s rugby trip to New Zealand. Like Ireland, there will not be another opportunity to do this and I don’t want to miss out, again.
Our club is developing and becoming a top contender in our league. We started out as a Sevens team, barely able to field a team consistently for practices and games throughout the seasons. Last season, 2025, proved to be our best season to date as far as having consistent numbers at practice and games which translated to our dominant rugby play versus the rest of the league. Now we are a Tens team fielding 14-16 players at practice and and aspiring to be a complete rugby club and play 15’s which is where the game of rugby is truly played.
My daughter Olive will also benefit from this GoFundMe donation page as we will split all donations for her and myself ensuring we both get to New Zealand.
Any amount you can give is greatly appreciated and generous of you to do so.
Much appreciated, thank you .
Cheers!
PS. I do have a job, at Blue Oak Charter School in Chico California. I am the facilities manager/safety coordinator/food service director. Check out our webpage and look at my expansive biography. I wrote it thinking it would be edited down, but it was not. I am embedded in that school. However, it is a smaller charter school and they haven’t been able to keep up with the established Pay levels for most facilities managers. I’ve had seven different careers and this is by far my favorite job. Money isn’t everything, except when it is needed to travel.
