At just 33 years old, our brother Swain Lopez known as "Oli", suffered a life-changing injury.

During a normal training session there was a freak accident that resulted in a tear in Oli’s carotid artery, causing a devastating stroke while on the mats.

Within hours, he was rushed into emergency surgery to remove blood clots from his brain.

In a single moment, Oli’s life—and the lives of everyone who loves him—changed forever.

This is the type of injury every Jiu Jitsu practitioner prays to avoid every time we step on the mats.

Oli is a devoted father to 12-year-old Ezra and 7-year-old Kaia.

His recovery will be long and difficult.

There will be medical bills, rehabilitation, and many challenges ahead but Oli will not face them alone.
