I am a single mom of two wonderful daughters, and right now, we are facing one of the most challenging times of our lives. My cancer journey began in October 2024 and has been an emotional rollercoaster, filled with ups and downs. I have undergone different treatments, including radiation and immunotherapy, which unfortunately led to a 12-day hospital stay due to an adverse reaction. Despite everything, I never took medical leave for a year, trying to keep life as normal as possible for my girls. In May, I started chemotherapy, but my oncology team recently decided to stop and pivot to a stronger chemo and a mix of treatments. Soon, I may also be eligible for some clinical trials.
For a while, I was able to keep working remotely as a department manager, which allowed me to support my family while focusing on my health. However, at the end of November, my company made the difficult decision to outsource my entire department, leaving me without a job. With my health journey requiring so much of my energy and time, I am unable to commit to a new job right now. My oldest daughter is a college student who works part-time and has become my main support, while my youngest is in fourth grade. We are doing our best to stay strong and positive, but the financial strain is overwhelming. Our biggest expenses are rent and our car, and keeping a stable home is essential for my recovery and for my daughters’ well-being. Reliable transportation is also crucial for getting to my medical appointments, for my youngest to get to school, and for my oldest to get to her job. We share one vehicle, and living in Miami makes having a car a necessity.
Any support through these times will mean so much for me and my family. I am grateful for all the blessings in my life and appreciate everyone making donations towards my journey.
