Unexpected Bladder Surgery Abroad – Please Help Oksana Recover

Hello dear friends, family, and kind supporters,

My name is Oksana Sunrise, and I’m humbly reaching out during an incredibly difficult and unexpected time.

I traveled from Hawaii to Ukraine to attend a family celebration — a joyful occasion that turned into a medical crisis. While in Ukraine, I began experiencing severe bladder pain that quickly became unbearable. I was rushed to the hospital, where doctors had to perform an emergency bladder surgery to relieve the condition.

As a professional dancer and dance coach, my body is not only my passion — it’s also my livelihood. Being confined to a hospital bed, far from home and unable to move freely or teach, has been incredibly frustrating and heartbreaking. My beloved students back in Hawaii are still reaching out, missing our classes deeply. I miss them too — more than words can express.

On top of the medical expenses, I’ve had to reschedule my return flights and bus travel, which has added a large unexpected cost. Prices have gone up, and every change has come with high penalties or new ticket costs.

Now, I’m facing significant financial stress from:

   •   Emergency surgery and hospital care

   •   Medication and ongoing treatment

   •   Lost income due to being unable to work

   •   Rent and bills back home in Hawaii

   •   Travel rebooking fees and living costs abroad

I know that many people might wonder why I haven’t turned to close family for financial help. The truth is, not everyone is in a position to assist — and I deeply respect everyone’s individual circumstances. That’s why I’m choosing to reach out here, with honesty and hope.

I also want to share something from the heart:

I’m deeply aware that Ukraine is suffering greatly right now due to the war. So many people are in pain, displaced, or grieving — and that makes me hesitant to ask for help. But this medical emergency happened suddenly while I was here, and now I’m facing not only recovery but overwhelming expenses, both here and at home.

I’m hoping to raise $10,000 to help cover these urgent costs and get back to healing — and eventually, back to dancing and teaching the students I love.
