My name is Okechia Johnson, known as GriptownFamilyof 6, on Facebook. I am a mother of 5 children, 1 son and 4 daughters. I live in Griffin, Ga. Recently, the apartments where we reside in Spalding County, Northside Apartments, is in a situation of being remodeled. I attended the city commissioners board meeting and community meeting last week, they are in process of forcing us to move with limited options for living. My apartment is uninhabitable for living with water damage, mold, and mildew that is causing us to become sick. The options are really not in favor the tenants that live here. You can watch the live of Yoshunda Jones, she goes in detail on what the options and plan is for us, as she is working to assist. We may be forced to leave as early as August 22, 2024, less than a week. Basically, we are in a lose-lose situation. I do not have a car nor family support for my children and I, and I could end up homeless. I want to avoid placing my children in an environment that forces us on the street. I want to move immediately if possible. I am open to suggestions on other possible residences, but I am in need of expenses. Myself and 3 of my children have disabilities, and income is not enough to move on my own. I am not perfect, but I take much pride in providing for my children and making sure they are safe, love, and cared for every day. They are my pride and joy, and I am sure most of you can relate. But we are in dire need of relocating to a safe and stable environment. I am asking for help to possibly raise enough funds for a car and moving expenses, moving being the top priority. I am a firm believer in God, and He has placed this on my heart to set aside my pride and seek help.
