The High Point PD and surrounding Triad community is mourning the unexpected loss of Detective David Rosser, a 42-year-old veteran officer who dedicated his life to serving others.
David served with the High Point Police Department since 2008, most recently in the Violent Crimes Unit. Over his career, he was a firearms instructor, crisis negotiator, member of the Civil Emergency Unit, and was recognized as Officer of the Year in 2024. He was also part of the Honor Guard, where he played the bagpipes at funerals for fallen officers across North Carolina.
I’ve known David for 22 years, and I will never forget him standing there playing the bagpipes at my brother-in-law’s funeral after he was killed in the line of duty. That’s who David was—he showed up for people in their hardest moments. He carried others through grief with quiet strength and humility.
But more than anything, David was a devoted husband.
He leaves behind his wife—my best friend of 40 years—who lives with multiple chronic illnesses. David was her primary caregiver, helping her through daily medical and personal needs with patience and unwavering love.
He didn’t just serve his community—he served her, every single day. And he loved her perfectly. She has lost her husband, her provider, and her daily support.
We are asking for help to support her through this unimaginable loss—assisting in final arrangement expenses, lifting some of the burden of cost of living and ongoing medical expenses.
If David ever stood for your family, your department, or your community—this is our chance to stand for his.
Please consider donating or sharing. Let’s show up for her the way he always showed up for others.
Much Love,
Korie
