My name is Officer Mark Barnett, and I work alongside Officer Molina with the Memphis Police Department.

On February 26, 2026, while on duty, Officer Molina was shot during what should have been a routine traffic stop. In our line of work, routine can turn life threatening in seconds. That night, it did.

Officer Molina is alive and fighting, but he is currently in the ICU and has a long road of recovery ahead of him. There will be surgeries, rehabilitation, and months of healing. The physical and emotional toll of being shot in the line of duty is something no officer or family is ever fully prepared for.

If you know Molina, you know he is one of the hardest working officers at the Memphis Police Department. He doesn’t avoid the hard calls. He doesn’t hesitate when it’s time to act. He genuinely cares about getting dangerous offenders off the streets and protecting this city at all costs. He shows up every shift ready to work and ready to back his partners.

Now it’s our turn to show up for him.
