On Friday, May 29, our community experienced a tragedy that no town ever wants to face.
Two Deputies answered a call, doing exactly what they had sworn to do—serve and protect. For Deputy Logan Utt, that call became his End of Watch. He was taken from his family, friends, fellow deputies, and the community that he faithfully served.
His partner, Deputy Michael Dean, was also shot in the line of duty. In addition to recovering from his physical injuries, he carries the unimaginable burden of witnessing the loss of his friend and partner. While Deputy Dean is now recovering at home, the emotional impact of that day may stay with him for a lifetime.
As Deputy Dean faces weeks away from work while supporting his family, we ask that if you feel led to do so, please consider donating to help ease some of the financial burden during his recovery. Deputy Dean has a wife and 3 children at home.
Most importantly, please continue to keep Deputy Utt's family, friends, fellow deputies , our community, and Deputy Dean in your thoughts and prayers as they navigate the difficult days, weeks, and months ahead.
A true hometown hero never wears a cape—he wears a badge.
Rest easy, Deputy Logan Utt. Your service, sacrifice, and dedication will never be forgotten as will yours either Deputy Michael Dean.
