Happy summer! I am reaching out on behalf of our Kerr School Resource Officer Scott Bailey. Many of you may know that approximately one month ago, Officer Bailey was in a serious accident on a side by side. He was the passenger, when the side by side rolled multiple times in the woods. His right hand was crushed and his thumb was basically severed. He sustained internal bleeding which required him to be life flighted to Presby Hospital. After 6 hours of emergency surgery, Officer Bailey's wife Tina was informed that they were able to save his hand. They stopped the internal bleeding and he spent 3 days on a ventilator in the ICU. After a week, Officer Bailey was discharged, only to find himself right back in the hospital with a blood clot in his lung.
This has been a crazy few weeks for his family. He is now home and on the mend. Unfortunately, doctors are unable to give him a time frame on his recovery. This is causing Officer Bailey much financial anxiety, as we all know, he works CONSTANTLY!!!! He has been a police officer for 32 years! He currently works full time as a Fox Chapel School Resource Officer and part time at Aspinwall Police Department. A normal work week for him is 7 days, working two jobs. Somehow, he manages to have a smile on his face every single morning at drop off. Whether its playing rock, paper, scissors, talking about last nights hockey game, showing off a new mug or simply patting a student on the head, he sets a positive vibe for their day. He makes a lasting impact on every child's life and is a staple to our Kerr School Community.
Now, it is time for our community to return the favor. Lets come together and help his family, in their time of need. Just like he is alway there for our kids....
