Ali will live the rest of her life with around-the-clock nursing care. For nearly two years, Ofelia and Danny have carried that responsibility without hesitation. They have become her primary caregivers, showing up every single day with strength, love, and unwavering faith. Recently, the Perez family suffered more devastation. Daniel suffered a stroke. He worked tirelessly to recover, determined to keep showing up for his family. Hoping to celebrate his recovery, they took a trip together; a brief escape from all he'd endured. While on that trip, Daniel suffered a second stroke. He fell into a coma and, after a week-long fight, passed away far from home, with only his father by his side. In less than two years, this family has endured unimaginable loss, ongoing medical hardship, and profound grief, while continuing to care for Ali every single day. Now, they are also facing overwhelming financial strain.
