Support of the Trimble family and Helen's Recovery
Donation protected
Dearest friends + family,
In November of 2023, Helen suffered a series of blood clots, causing a stroke in her spinal cord. The rarity of this happening has created a series of medical questions that there are few answers for thus far. Helen is a bright and beautiful young woman who has been living in Budapest while nearing the end of her schooling at McDaniel College. The stroke has left her paralyzed in her torso, legs, and hands. In the past few days, while being treated at a hospital in Budapest, she has recovered slight movement in her fingers. These small improvements are milestones that continue to give us hope for the future. Her potential for recovery at this time is largely unknown, but she remains positive and determined.
While we are thankful for her treatment in Budapest, it is clear that her condition is beyond the scope of the hospital and her current care team. Simply put, she needs to come back to the United States. Our family is looking at all options for rehabilitation and care facilities to continue her recovery and receive answers as to why exactly this stroke occurred. Coordinating her transport home is extremely difficult due to the distance involved and her medical condition. The medical flight and her treatment in the United States is proving to be a significant financial burden for her family. Her mother, Jamie is currently overseeing Helen's care and is unable to work and the cost of rehab will be long-term and extensive.
We believe in the power of prayer and pray for Helen's recovery. The Trimble family is also deeply grateful for the meal train and donations that have already been sent. Helen, Mark, Jamie, and their children appreciate the love and outpouring of support that they have received during these trying times, and ask for your help in bringing Helen home and supporting her recovery. Thank you and God bless!
UPDATE: As of December 20th, Helen will be coming home to the United States! She will be traveling by air ambulance from Hungary to Colorado to begin the next phase of her recovery. We are relived and grateful that she will be reunited with family and friends back in the US and are blessed to have this Christmas miracle. Please continue praying for her lengthy transatlantic flight as she continues on this uncertain journey.
