My name is Novlet “Peaches” Mattis, and I now live in FL. My dearest sister/cousin, Odein “Carol” Samuda Kennedy (previously King), passed away on Tuesday, October 28, at about the same time that Hurricane Melissa touched down in her beautiful home country, Jamaica.

Odein’s cancer returned after being in remission for 30 years and took its toll over the last 8 months.

Her memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 15, in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. We are requesting that in lieu of flowers, please contribute towards helping her community and church that she was born, confirmed, and raised in Jamaica recover from the ravages of Hurricane Melissa.

Odein and I are from the district of Silent Hill in Clarendon, Jamaica, and the funds would go towards helping select residents whose homes were badly damaged and those who lost their crops, and the Anglican churches in Christiana and Alston that were badly damaged by Melissa.
