Support Obi's Fight for Life After Surgery

Donation protected
UPDATE: Early this morning (Thursday, 7/17), our sweet girl passed away.
To all those who donated to our efforts to continue her ICU care, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. While we weren't able to bring her home like we hoped, your donations helped her to have time a little more time with her family and a peaceful goodbye.

Again, thank you everyone for your generosity, love, and support.

On Tuesday morning, July 15, 2025, we were given horrible news: the ER vet called and confirmed that the reason our family dog, Obi, was so sick was that there was an obstruction in her intestine. She needed emergency surgery, but the cost was astounding. So now we had a horrible decision to make: take on debt to try to save Obi's life or tell our children that their beloved dog was going to die because we couldn't afford to help her.

We chose to see what we could finance.

Fortunately, we were able to finance enough for Obi to undergo life-saving surgery later that day. Unfortunately, the surgery proved to be much more complicated than anticipated due to the complex nature of the obstruction. We'll spare everyone the gory details, but thanks to the amazing surgical team at Heal Veterinary Clinic in Watertown, MA, they were able to accomplish the nearly impossible and successfully removed the obstruction.

Of course, the cost of her procedure was much higher than originally projected, and this meant that her post-op care was going to be more complicated (and more costly) as well. But what could we do? She had made it this far, and we couldn't abandon her now.

So Obi is now at the ICU at BluePearl Animal Hospital in Waltham, MA, where she's been receiving amazing around-the-clock care. However, she's not out of the woods yet. For the next few days, the biggest threat to her survival is the potential for her to develop sepsis. She needs 24/7 care, IV fluids, pain meds, observation, etc. - all of which can only be provided at a veterinary ICU. However, our ability to finance this care will soon hit a brick wall.

We were able to pay for Obi to stay in the ICU through Thursday, July 17th, but if we can't pay for additional days, we will have no choice but to remove her before she is healthy enough to go home.

We are hoping to raise the necessary funds so that Obi can remain in the ICU for the recommended amount of time. We are desperate to give her the best chance to make it home to her family. She's fought so hard and come so far to lose it all now.

Please help us bring this otherwise healthy & happy dog home!

With gratitude,
Carolyn, Tim, Ben, Lam, and Obi
