Hey everyone, my name is Layton, and I’m reaching out with something I never thought I’d have to do.
My dog, Obi, is only 3 years old—and he’s my everything. He’s been with me through some of the darkest moments of my life, including my own sickness. When I couldn’t sleep at night, he was there. When I was frightened, he curled up next to me like he knew exactly what I needed. I owe him everything.
Now Obi’s the one who needs help, and I’m doing everything I can to be there for him.
What's Going On?
Over the past week, he stopped eating. He had bloody poop, and something just felt off. After multiple vet visits and thousands spent, they found a large mass in his abdomen. The vet believes it’s either cancer or severe intestinal damage from an infected colon—both life-threatening, and both requiring surgery from a specialist.
It’s not an emergency today, but it will be very soon due to him not eating. I’ve already spent over $6k trying to get him help. I’ve applied for CareCredit and got denied due to my own medical expenses. The vet doesn’t offer payment plans, and I live alone. I’m 26, and I just don’t have the funds left to get Obi through this surgery.
He’s the kind of dog who avoids conflict, who walks away from fights, and who somehow makes everyone feel safe around him. He’s not just a good dog; he’s my dog. And I can’t/won't give up on him.
If you’ve ever loved a dog like family, or been in a spot where you’d do anything but you just need a little help to get there, I hope you’ll consider donating. Even $5 makes a difference. And if you can’t donate, sharing this means the world to me.
Thank you for helping me fight for Obi.
