Obaatan Mobilization Against Poverty (OMAP) is a 501C3 faith-based organization that is dedicated to serving impoverished women and children who are deprived as a result of social, physical, mental and emotional abuse as well as economic hardship. Obaatan provides assistance and opportunities to those in need, encouraging them to grow emotionally and spiritually, find their voices, and embrace hope. The services that the organization provides enable the participants that they serve to begin breaking cycles of poverty, issues of low self-esteem, conflicting self-confidence, and feelings of hopelessness that unfortunately have inundated their lives. Currently, Obaatan provides: food and shelter, vocational training, temporary and transitional housing, counseling, healthcare, scholarships, employment assistance, and educational programs. Our objective is to give the underprivileged the resources necessary to become self-sufficient and improve their quality of life. Obaatan currently serves the residents of Gomoa Tekyiam, a village in the central region of Ghana, along with six other villages in the area. The organization is seeking funds to build a health clinic in the area. The clinic will serve the seven villages in the vicinity. It will help to reduce maternal and child mortality rates, decrease the incidence of preventable illnesses in the district, alleviate treatable diseases and health issues such as malnutrition, hypertension, malaria,  and snake bites. It will also offer preventive care to the following villages in the area: Gomoa Tekyiam, Pamfokrom, Adeatem, Awomberew, Abonyi, Oguaakrom, and Nyakudze. Lastly, the clinic will be a source of revenue for the residents that the clinic employs.
