On December 31st, our sweet boy Oatie all of a sudden began acting very strange and lethargic. When he didn’t get up for a can of tuna, we rushed him to the emergency vet. Blood tests showed his liver toxicity was very high, consistent with poisoning. The vet told us he was not likely to make it, and the only option to increase his chances was a blood transfusion which unfortunately is very expensive. It has been a very difficult couple months and we could not imagine losing him too. We had to do it—he is our family. We paid upfront with CareCredit in the hopes that the procedure will save his life.
We can’t begin to explain how much he means to us. He won’t go to bed unless we come with him. He’s always happy to greet us when we get home. He brings love, cuddles and laughter when we need it the most.
It’s hard to write this right now when all we can think about is if he will be okay.
The first part of the blood transfusion is going okay and we are waiting to hear more updates tonight.
We are so grateful for anything you are able to give.
