My name is Stacey and I’m asking for help for my Sister Charla and my 5 yr old nephew Oakley.
- On Wednesday October 16, 2024 Oakley and his Dad Mason were involved in a three vehicle accident involving a School bus in Erwin NY.
- While stopping for a school bus, Mason and Oakley were violently rear ended by a car going 65mph pushing them into the school bus. Oakley was airlifted to Strong Hospital with traumatic head injuries. He has a small brain bleed and Neuro team gave the go ahead for facial reconstruction on Thursday Oct 17th. Little Dude kept asking when his eye was going to be cured. He now has a metal plate to rebuild his cheek bone and a plate in his eye socket. His eye is still swollen shut. And his deep laceration has been stitched closed. Today, Friday Oct 18 Oakley is recovering, mostly sleeping.
- Mason, of course refused treatment on scene to stay with his boy until he was airlifted. He has minor injuries. But will require dental to fix his loose tooth from hitting the steering wheel. His car is totaled.
- Mom was supposed to start a new job Monday after being laid off. That can not happen now as Oakley will require round the clock care for 6-8 weeks. (Have to monitor for possibility of seizures from brain bleed) Dad will also need some time off work to help in care, they also have a 3 yr old daughter, Sissy Paisley.
- Golisano Children’s Hospital has been Amazing. Charla and Mason would also like to thank all first responders, witnesses, friends, family and are thankful for the bus driver and the 6 kids on the bus all uninjured. AND, proper installation of Oakleys car seat most likely saved his life. Even though the trunk of the car was pushed into the back seat. If you can not donate, please say a prayer for our sweet boy. And never be in a rush to put your kid in their car seat! An extra second can save a life!
