Your $25 donation pays for a Seamless gift card that will be given to a medical resident. Doctors will use the gift cards to order from local restaurants.
Each week, we will be featuring a different NYC hospital, delivering gift cards to doctors on the front lines. This week we are featuring SUNY Downstate, which is one of the 3 hospitals in NY state chosen to be entirely COVID-19. The donation will be given to chief residents who will ensure residents on the front lines get meals.
NYC medical residents
Medical residents are doctors completing the final 3 years of their training. In NYC, they are at the front lines of the fight against COVID-19. While the rest of the country does their part by staying home, they are working overtime to treat those who have fallen ill. Long and stressful hours in the hospital leave little time for essential self-care like healthy eating.
With few options available given the shuttering of businesses, food delivery is the quickest and most convenient way to make sure doctors in training are taken care of while they care for others.
Struggling NYC restaurants
NYC restaurants have been ordered to close their doors and switch to food delivery exclusively via delivery apps like Seamless. The economic cost for restaurant owners and their employees has been devastating. Now more than ever, these local restaurants need our help to stay afloat.
Seamless has done their part by waiving their fee so that 100% of delivery purchases go to the restaurant.
