Emergency Fund for New York State Correction Officers on Strike
New York State Correction Officers are currently engaged in one of the most critical labor strikes in state history. 39 of the state’s 42 correctional facilities are on strike- a direct result of Governor Hochul’s complete disregard for officer safety, severe understaffing, and the disastrous HALT Act, which has stripped all discipline from violent inmates.
These officers didn’t want to strike- but they had no choice. They are standing up not just for themselves, but for the future of corrections in this state. They are fighting for basic safety, fair working conditions, and the right to go to work without the constant fear of being assaulted.
Unfortunately, their fight comes at a cost. These officers will run out of paychecks, and many will be hit with severe fines for standing up for what’s right. That’s why this Emergency Fund has been created—to help provide financial relief to striking officers who are sacrificing their income to force real change.
Where Will the Funds Go?
100% of the money raised will go directly to officers who are actively on strike. To assist with mutual aid of the strike and to help with legal fees and assistance associated with the strike. Many of these officers have been subjected to retaliation from the state and will now need to pursue litigation against the state for lost wages, insurance, etc. This fund will help ensure they get the legal assistance they need
How You Can Help
This strike isn’t just about correction officers—it’s about public safety, accountability, and making sure that those who protect us are protected themselves. Every donation, no matter the size, makes a difference in keeping these officers on the picket lines and ensuring they don’t face financial ruin for taking a stand.
If you believe in standing up against corruption, in supporting the men and women who put their lives on the line daily, and in demanding real change—please donate and share. The officers are holding the line for all of us. Let’s make sure they have the support they need to keep going.
