Support Nuthara's studies at Oxford

Hi, my name is Nuthara. I'm a first-year Computer Science undergraduate student at Oxford University, UK.

I'm a member of the University College, Oxford. I'm looking for funds to support my tuition fees for my second year of study.

I'm an international student from Panadura, Sri Lanka. I'm passionate about mathematics and computer technologies, and I really look forward to continuing my degree in the field of Computer Science. Studying at Oxford is a dream come true for someone from an average background like me, and it's the most incredible opportunity I've ever had. I hope you will help me continue to follow that dream by supporting my family in paying the tuition fees, which are quite steep.

Any funds received will be paid directly to my college for tuition in my second year.

To be honest, when I applied to Oxford in late 2021, I didn't actually think I would get an offer. I had 9A*s from CIE Ordinary Levels but I hadn't done A-levels yet, and I took the Oxford entrance exam for Computer Science. Imagine my shock when I actually got an honest-to-goodness offer from my dream university! I couldn't quite believe it. It was a conditional offer, and several months later I had 5A*s for A-levels - quite enough to meet the conditions.

I applied for several university and external scholarships, but unfortunately didn't qualify for any of them. Without that, the yearly tuition fee for an international student studying Computer Science at Oxford is quite huge(around 40 000), and that is the reason I'm looking for support. My family has been supporting me all the way, and we managed to pay for my first year, but the next few years remain the problem. I hope to find that amount little by little, and a great big thank you to everyone who has supported me so far, and everyone who will in the future.

I've just completed my first year of studies, and frankly it has been one of the most amazing years I've had. I've learnt so much in such a short time, made new friends and had new experiences. I've also formed a better idea of the kind of person I want to be in the future - strong, insightful, driven. I want to be someone who can fix a broken system instead of hide from it, and I hope to work towards a better future for Sri Lanka someday.
