Hi, this is Iris.
I’m writing on behalf of my dear friend, the artist and designer known as “Nunu” (HaeNuLi).
For nearly 20 years, Nunu has been a Korean illustrator and the creator of the beloved “Skull and Girl (Their Story)” art series, as well as a well-known designer in the global EGL/Lolita fashion community.
Her work has always spoken about quiet resilience, sorrow, and the fragile hope that grows in dark places — themes shaped by her own life and survival.
But today, she needs help.
For the past 3.5 years, Nunu has been fighting a long and exhausting legal battle after surviving domestic violence.
Despite her courage and the extensive evidence and reports she provided, the criminal case was dismissed due to “insufficient evidence,” and she has been left to fight appeals and legal procedures on her own.
Although she won her civil divorce case, she received no compensation for the violence, infidelity, or the financial harm she suffered.
During these years of court hearings, investigations, and constant emotional strain, her health has collapsed.
She has struggled with depression, anxiety, chronic physical pain, and severe burnout.
Her art — once her voice, her livelihood, and her way to connect with people around the world — has been forced into silence while she tried to simply survive.
I have supported her as much as I could, but rebuilding her life is now beyond what she can carry alone.
This fundraiser is to help her recover, heal, and eventually return to creating the art that has comforted so many people.
Funds will be used for:
Covering debts and loans accumulated during the 3.5 years of legal battles
Medical and mental health treatment
Basic living expenses until she is stable again
Rebuilding her artistic work and returning to creative projects
Nunu is a survivor.
She has endured more than anyone should ever have to face, and yet she still wishes to return to her art — not only for herself, but for those who have found hope in her illustrations.
If you have ever been touched by her work, or simply want to help a survivor stand again,
your support will mean more than words.
Even the smallest kindness can become the warmth that allows her hands — and her heart — to create again.
Thank you so much for reading.
And thank you for helping her rebuild her life.
— Iris
