Unfortunately, we received Nugget’s X‑ray results and he will require TPLO surgery to fully recover from this injury-- it's like the same as tearing your ACL... Nugget has not been able to go for walks, jump onto the bed, or go to the dog park for about two months now. we were really hoping that it would heal on its own, but x-rays have identified that surgery is needed. . When we first started getting quotes around the DFW metroplex, most clinics estimated 5,000–7,000 for the surgery alone, not including postoperative care, medications, or follow‑up X‑rays.
After posting Nugget’s story less than 24 hours ago, many of you reached out with similar experiences and recommendations for clinics you’ve used for your own pets. With that information, we found a clinic in Austin that will perform the surgery and provide all postoperative care, medications, X‑rays, and physical therapy for half the price. Surgery is the first step. We’ve scheduled the operation for the end of this month, and recovery will take about 3–6 months.
We’re already more hopeful because this clinic provides excellent care and support during recovery. Any amount you can give will go directly toward Nugget’s surgery and recovery. Even the smallest donation helps more than you know. I will share receipts and updates throughout the process. Please reach out if you have questions or personal experiences that could help. If you can’t give financially, sharing this page means the world to us. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for supporting Nugget on his road to healing.
