Hello everyone, it is with heavy heart as I am writing this in hope that my family and I can get some help and prayers during this difficult time. My name is Chip, my husband Somsak “Noy” was detained by DHS ICE yesterday 2.9.2026 @around 5:30pm. He will be deported back to Laos, a country he knows very little about. We tried to follow the proper procedure and filed for I-130 Spouse Petition for him 5 years ago but the case is still in active pending status.
Noy left Laos at a very young age and spent part of his childhood in a refugee camp in Thailand before he and his family were sponsored to the United States as war refugees. Noy grew up in challenging circumstances, and his parents worked tirelessly to provide for ten children and did the best they could under extremely difficult conditions. Noy made serious mistakes in life. He took responsibility for his actions, served his sentence, and has carried deep regret ever since. More importantly, he has worked hard to turn his life around. He strives every day to be a better man and to teach his three children to be law-abiding, compassionate, and responsible individuals. My husband is a great father, a loving grandfather, a devoted husband, and an extremely hardworking man. He takes pride in caring for his family and continuously working to improve his life. Everyone who knows him describes him as kind, generous, and a true friend. He has become a productive member of society and gives back whenever he can, including organizing charity tattoo drives to raise toys for underserved children. Tattooing is his passion, and he approaches it with love and dedication. Years later, his past has come back to haunt him in a way we never imagined. Our family is heartbroken, and we are asking for your prayers and support. We know this journey will be difficult, but we are holding onto hope and praying for a miracle—that he may be allowed to stay in the United States with his family and friends. Life in Laos will be extremely challenging, especially because he is diabetic and requires regular medication and medical care, which is very costly in Laos.
We have set up a GoFundMe to help with legal fees and, if necessary, living and medical expenses in Laos. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for any support, prayers, and kindness you can offer during this painful time.
