Support Nova's Heart Healing Journey

Friends have created a GoFundMe should you find you would like to support Nova and her amazing parents in monetary ways.

A word from Grandpa, Max Gustafson, "On January 13, 2025 we welcomed precious Nova Elizabeth into our world. Firstborn daughter to Kelly and Jared Corbin. It is apparent already she is a sweetheart but tough as nails!

At her 20 week ultrasound she was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect called Truncus Arteriosus Type 1. For 4 agonizing weeks we awaited results of further genetic testing for other associated genetic disorders. Thankfully those all came back negative!

That said, Nova's condition will require an initial open heart surgery in the next few weeks and likely several additional OHS as Nova grows. Normally the first surgery is the most risky and usually entails an extended stay in the Neonatal ICU. She is currently in the CVCC (cardiac ICU) at Children's Hospital in Minneapolis.

Since her birth there have been many positive signs we are thankful for. She is able to breath on her own and maintain good blood oxygen levels. She has a strong appetite and feedings are going well. The doctors want her to gain as much weight and strength as possible prior to surgery.
