Support Nova Luna and Their Pets

Hello, my name is Skyler! I'm raising money for my friend Nova Luna, who is in a really hard situation and is in threat of being homeless.

The ultimate goal is to raise as much money as we possibly can for them so they can have housing & financial security, at least for a few months so they can focus on their health & growing their business.

The more money we can raise the better though ever little bit helps them. We have a goal of $8,000, to move them from FL to VT where they have the potential for a place. However, if we could reach closer to $20,000 or more, they could afford a house rather than an apartment which would give them even more stability than any other options and would allow them to have their animals without any issues.

If we raise more than the $8,000 or the $20,000 goals all that money will go towards getting Nova a house & stuff to aid them with their disabilities so they can have the time and space to actually recenter themselves & get their health back on track without constantly being under duress due to financial & housing insecurity. Every dollar you spend is going toward an amazing cause & will also help them have the time to focus on and grow their business so they can be financially secure.

I know many of us are suffering from losses, and requesting financial support, especially those who are still dealing with the aftermath of Helene and those who are currently dealing with the wildfires in California. I too would like to ask for help to support my dear friend Nova Luna, who is also in need of financial aid. They are facing a dire situation of being homeless within the next several weeks due to the place they are living going up for sale.

Nova is a chronically ill disabled & neurodiverse queer person who is unable to maintain any sort of full time job, though they have tried to create some income for themselves with the release of their books & art. However, due to their health & the time needed to build their following they do not have the funds to afford a new place. This is made more difficult by the fact that they have a pitbull mix dog, who is unfortunately fearful due to trauma, and a bird who is sweet but can be quite loud, so their options for places to live are minimal.

Nova is someone who has dedicated so much of their lives to helping others whether that is young and/or questioning queer folx who are exploring their identities & sexualities or chronically ill people seeking support & community. For them the priority is always helping others in whatever way possible. Helping them learn how to navigate life with neurodiversity’s, understanding the complexities of mental health, riding the roller coaster of healing & so much more, Nova truly cares about others. Now it is time for us to step up and help Luna as they have done so selflessly for others often at the expense of their self.

Taking out the fact that their house is about to be sold, being disabled, afab, & queer in the south comes with a whole lot of stress & risk especially in a state so vehemently anti-queer, anti-women & afab, and with a severely lacking medical care system. By acquiring the funds to get them out of the south & into a much safer & accepting state they can refocus on their health & work towards creating financial means to support themselves through their work as published author & artist. Right now, due to all the stress & flare-ups from being disabled & chronically ill which is also being exacerbated by all the extreme weather they are unable to do many necessary tasks in regard to their work or even many basic care needs.

It is for this and many other reasons that I decided to start this go fund me, so this way I could help get them & their animals into a safer & more stable environment so they can get their life settled more. Obviously, we would like to raise as much money as possible, but we will take any amount anyone can get. Even if you have nothing to give, please consider sharing this post so that we can reach more people who can donate. Any and all funds would go to acquiring a stable & safe place for Nova Luna & their animals, as well as supplies for essential supplies for managing their disabilities & chronic illnesses.

Firstly, thank you for all those who have donated to this GFM, it truly means more to me than you will ever know. I know times are tough for so many of us & like me a lot of us are scared, especially us marginalized folks, so to see so many of you giving so generously to my cause touches my soul. I wanted to delve a little more into the plans I have for the funds depending upon which goal we reach. I will break down my plans for each of the goals. As my friend said above the ultimate goal is to raise as much money as possible. We also intend to leave the GFM up indefinitely so that I can see all the support and people can continue to support if they want to. Also the 6 week timeline is as of right now the minimum, though if things go well we may have till MAY at the latest to gather the funds and make the move. That being said the 6 week timeline is the more likely scenario so raising the money quickly is the goal. As we reach the $8,000 goal we will up it to try and reach the $20,000 or higher.

If we reach the 8,000 goal:

I have found 2 potential places to live which would accommodate me & my animals & would work within the limits of disabilities as they are accessible for me. These are the ONLY 2 places even available & thankfully they also work with the needs I have for me & my disabilities. Hopefully they will still be available when we have the funds to make the move, as they are the only ones currently available. The $8,000 would cover my full moving expenses plus the first month or two of rent which would take a huge burden off me and the person who has been financially supporting me. This is the first goal, the second and ultimate dream goals are listed below.

If we get closer to 20,000 or even miraculously surpass that:

I have a house in mind that I am totally in love with, it is a beautiful duplex which would give me independence while also allowing anyone who helps me as a caretaker/caregiver to live there and have their own space too or could give me some extra income if I decided to rent it out. Getting this means I can fully have my animals with me without having to fight for approval, especially for my dog as most places don't allow her simply because she has Pitbull in her. I would have my independence as I would have space that is completely mine, which is not something I have ever had before. Finally, I would have a caretaker/caregiver nearby for my bad health days & am in need of extra help around the house with myself or the animals. Over time I could renovate the house to fully fit me & my needs as well as my accommodation requirements for my disabilities. I have not had a space that fully accommodates me & my disabilities, so this would be the ultimate dream come true. If we reach this goal, this would also allow me to hire a social media manager for my business to help me gain financial independence. This will especially happen if we manage to surpass the $20,000 because all of it will go towards a down-payment, furnishings, moving, etc. This is the hopeful goal. The place itself is $165,000 so if by some divine miracle from the universe, we are able to raise that or more I will just buy the house outright, which would be the ultimate goal because due to my extensive medical bills my credit is trash so getting approved for a home loan will be a stretch. In addition to being able to afford the house this money would go towards getting me supplies to aid me with my disabilities, which would make my life easier and allow me more time to focus on my business. This is ultimate miracle magic moment dream goal.
