Hi, my name is Johanna, and I’m organizing this fundraiser on behalf of Zaid, Haifa, Abdul, and the entire Norwich Meadows Farm team.

Like many people in this community, I’ve been a longtime customer of Norwich Meadows Farm. Over the years, the farm has become an essential part of how many of us eat, cook, and stay connected to our food and to the people who grow it.

In a devastating event on Thursday night, December 11th, a fire caused major damage to Norwich Meadows Farm’s main barn. Thankfully, no one was injured. The barn played a central role in the farm’s daily operations, including areas used for washing, packing, refrigeration, equipment storage, and other essential systems that support getting food from the fields to the community.

The farm is still in the process of assessing the full extent of the damage and is working closely with its insurance company and local officials. At this stage, the damage has created short-term logistical and operational challenges as the team works to reorganize, stabilize, and determine next steps.

For decades, Norwich Meadows Farm has grown food for farmers markets, CSA members, restaurants, and food access partners throughout New York City and beyond. Their work depends on infrastructure that supports harvesting, washing, packing, and distribution—much of which was impacted by this fire.

I created this GoFundMe in response to the many friends, customers, chefs, and community members who have reached out asking how they can help during this period. Funds raised are intended to support short-term and transitional recovery efforts, including temporary measures and related expenses, as Norwich Meadows Farm works toward stabilization and rebuilding.
