My name is Norman Scott. I am 73 years old, recently retired, and setting out to complete my journey to Scotland which I started at age 70 to trace my family history. On those trips, I located the burial sites of many of my grandparents and connected with places that shaped my family’s story in Scotland and subsequent emigration to the U.S.. Those experiences were deeply meaningful, and I have long wanted to return and finish what I started. My goal is to return to Scotland in June of 2027 to continue my journey, beginning about 20 miles south of Ayrshire, where I left off. From there, I plan to travel by vehicle and by bicycle, wild camping as I make my way around the perimeter of Scotland, eventually returning to Glasgow. This is more than a trip. It is a personal and spiritual journey where I found a deep sense of connection, including swimming in rivers and lochs tied to my family’s past. I would like to continue that experience with your help.
I am hoping to raise approximately $2,635.00 to cover travel, basic gear, and expenses for the journey, including flights, bicycle, rental of transport, camping gear, and daily necessities.
I will share updates, videos, and reflections on Facebook so you can follow the journey.
If you feel moved to support this trip, I would be deeply grateful. Any amount helps, and sharing this page means a great deal as well. The following is an estimated itemized list of expenses.
* Estimated round-trip flight $1600.00
* Airline freight charge for bicycle. – $200.00
* Sleeping bag- $85.00
* 3 inch foam pad – $50.00
* Food expenses- $600.00
* Misc. $200.00
* Estimated cost: $2,735.00
Thank you for helping me complete this meaningful chapter of my life.
