My name is Opera Joe McKesson, and I am reaching out on behalf of my mother, Norma Alarcón, a distinguished writer, scholar, and professor emeritus at the University of California. She has dedicated her life to her work and her students, but now, due to unforeseen circumstances, we are facing a crisis.

Recently, my income from freelance work with arts organizations was unexpectedly cut by $1,000. This sudden loss, with no notice, has thrown us into a financial tailspin.
