On behalf of the entire Stingray Chevrolet team, it is with deep sadness and heartfelt regret that I share the heartbreaking news of the recent passing of one of our own, Norm Kniess.
Shortly after Thanksgiving, Norm was hospitalized following a pulmonary embolism. During his stay, a biopsy revealed a diagnosis of liver cancer. He was scheduled to meet with an oncologist two days after Christmas, but tragically, Norm suffered a debilitating stroke and was hospitalized again just two days before Christmas. A little more than two weeks afterward, Norm passed away peacefully.
Norm was truly the second voice of Stingray Chevrolet and, with his huge personality, impacted everyone here at the dealership over the past 4 years. Norm spent over 30 years in the radio business before coming to Stingray. He recorded, edited, and produced nearly every single radio ad I have done over the past 16 years. In fact, we recorded a radio spot together before the dealership even opened in December of 2008. Norm was a car guy to the core and always enjoyed seeing what I would drive when going to the studio to record an ad over the years. He and I would go to the Mecum Auction in Kissimmee because he loved classic cars as much as I always have.
He was the face of our social media and, along with Will, has taken our social media presence to levels never before seen at Stingray. To many fans out there, Norm "was" Stingray Chevrolet.
I can't tell you how many times I would be at another business or social event and people would ask me, "Do you know Norm?"
Norm is survived by his beloved wife, Rochele, who has been courageously battling cancer for the past 3 ½ years, with her latest round of chemotherapy beginning just days before his passing. He also leaves behind two adult daughters and a son-in-law. Much of Norm’s extended family resides in Ohio.
His family needs help as they navigate this tragedy. Rochele hasn't been able to work due to her own illness. If you are able to help, we are kindly asking for a donation for the family.
