Nori fell from our fifth-floor balcony. She fractured her leg and punctured her lung. Now she requires expensive surgery, and I'd like to kindly ask for help.

I knew something was wrong when I came home from work because I wasn't greeted by Nori's regular meows at the door. Cat Mom, Cat Dad, Maki, and Niko searched all over the house for her until we realized she wasn't inside the house. Then we realized she might have fallen off the balcony. I called her name from the balcony, and I think I could hear meowing in response coming from below. So we went to the first floor and called her name out. She started meowing back, and we followed the sound until it led us to a construction pile. I pulled a construction sheet back and found her. I couldn't believe I found her and that she survived 5 floors! I carefully tried to pick her up, but she started wailing, and then I realized her leg and chest were a bit crumpled. I panicked and found the nearest vet hospital that was still open at 10 p.m.

I rushed her to the hospital, and she went to the ER. While two nurses and a doctor carefully analyzed her, Cat Mom broke down. I think I was holding it all in until I could get her to emergency care. At first glance, they said it could just be a bone fracture, but after doing a more thorough analysis and X-rays, they said her lung was also injured and fluid was leaking into her lung, while air was leaking out into the space under her skin. She also broke a fang. They said she would have to be admitted immediately for oxygen care and that she might not make it through the night because the pressure on her lungs might stop her from being able to breathe properly.

The following morning, we went to visit Nori. She was doing so much better, and the vet said she's a fighter and her lungs are slowly stabilizing. The soonest they can start surgery is on Tuesday, but they estimate that it will cost $3,600.

Nori was admitted to the hospital on September 16th. Her current vet bill as of September 21st is $2226. This does not yet include her estimated surgery cost of $3600.

Hi, I'm Cat Mom of @nikoandmaki. You might know them from their viral video of giving birth last year to two kittens. Our friends adopted one kitten, and we kept the other one, Nori (ChowKuay), and she grew up in our house. Since Nori has been staying at the vet, Maki and Niko haven't been eating their wet food and haven't had any zoomies. This little family would like to ask for some help in covering Nori's surgery costs. I know it's a lot, but any little bit will help us immensely.
