Support Norby's Healing Journey
Donation protected
On the morning of January 1st, 2025, my mother, Norbriss Hamilton (aka Norby), was taken in an ambulance to the emergency room at Hoag Hospital in Irvine. After running tests, she was admitted and eventually underwent emergency surgery late that night for a ruptured tubo-ovarian abscess. She was in septic shock. She could have died. I could have lost my mother. But she pulled through, thank the Lord. She stayed in the hospital for about two weeks, suffering a few setbacks. Then she was transferred to a skilled nursing facility where her condition didn’t really improve. After another setback and trip to the ER, and a total of three weeks in the skilled nursing facility, my mom is back home and slowly progressing.
But we need help. I know this is a challenging time for everyone. If you have anything to give, it would help Norby so much. We’re not sure when she can get back to work. And a big complication on receiving government funds is that any paperwork we need is being held up by her primary care physician’s office. Her insurance changed on January 1st, 2025, so she has just been seen by this doctor’s office. And they want to wait even more time before filling out the paperwork for her to see specialists. Anyone who has seen a specialist knows how limited their availability can be.
In the meantime, to support Norby’s healing, she needs some funds for medical equipment, prescriptions and copays, food, and living expenses like rent and bills. I’ve been helping as much as I can, but I live about 45 minutes away in Los Angeles and I’m also a caregiver for my 92-year-old grandmother. If you cannot contribute financially, we’d appreciate prayers and good thoughts and access to any other resources you might know. Thank you for reading (and donating)!
