Support Nora's Journey to Independence with a Service Dog

Hello my name is Nora I am 16 years old and I am deciding to raise money for an autism service dog. After a life of not being accommodated for, causing mental health trouble and lasting mental and emotional health impacts, I am now in the middle of my teen years and have just started to gain some of the accommodations I had been needing my whole life. One of which I am still in the process of working toward…a service dog.

Living my life without accommodations put in place in a world already so hard to function in; missing basically the entire first year of high school while then going through mental health crisis’ and having to take on tedious treatments, contingency plans, etc. etc. has really put a dent in me. Because of this me and my family are trying our best to raise money for a service dog that could preform tasks specific to my needs. Some of these tasks would include:

⤴️These tasks would help me calm down and regulate myself either helping me in a behavioral or emotional crisis or preventing it.

⤴️These tasks are more used as preventative measures to prohibit me from reaching a point of crisis that could cause harm to me or others.

Apart from this GoFundMe my family and I plan to do bake sales, lemonade stands and other small fundraising activities to get the large amount of money we’d need to get and care for this dog. I myself have started trying to get more pet sitting and baby sitting gigs as well independently to try to collect bits and pieces of money for this investment.

This will take a while, there is no doubt about it but I am very determined to “get this show on the road” as quick as possible so I can live a more fulfilling life. To be a bit cliche this would really truly change my life for the better and greatly raise my ability of being independent and regulated in this great wide world.
