On January 6th, 2026, our family experienced an unimaginable loss when our beautiful 34-year-old daughter passed away, leaving behind her five-year-old daughter, Nora. Nora’s father is unknown. My husband and I have been raising Nora, as her mother faced health battles, but with hope that her mother would be able to take over parenting some day. As her grandmother, I am doing everything I can to provide her with love and stability, even as my husband battles aggressive esophageal cancer. Our hearts are shattered, not only for the loss of our daughter, but for the challenges Nora will face growing up without her parents. When Nora graduates from high school, my husband and I will be in our 80s, and we worry about her future and the opportunities she deserves.

Nora is a bright, curious little girl with a passion for animals and science. She dreams of becoming a veterinarian and has turned her bedroom closet into a makeshift animal clinic, where she lovingly cares for her stuffed animals. Her fascination with medicine is growing—she’s always eager to learn about the human body, watches medical videos, and even received her first microscope for Christmas. We have no doubt that Nora will achieve great things, but we want to ensure she has the resources to pursue her dreams.

Though retired, we will contribute what we can to her college fund. In lieu of flowers at the funeral, we are inviting friends and family to contribute to Nora’s future. The fundraiser will remain open for anyone who wishes to support her education in the days ahead. Thank you for helping us give Nora the chance to follow her dreams.
