Support Nora’s Future After the Loss of Her Father, Dover
Honoring Bay Area Musician Dover Jost's Family
On February 15, nine-year-old Nora lost her father, Dover.
At an age when life should be about school, friends, and growing up, Nora is now navigating the loss of a parent and the sudden changes that come with it.
This fundraiser is to help provide stability for Nora and her mother, Jenny, as they rebuild their lives during this difficult time, so Nora can continue to feel safe, supported, and cared for in the months ahead.
Dover had been battling diabetes, liver disease, and kidney failure. Last October, while waiting for dialysis, he suffered a seizure and was placed in an induced coma. He spent several days on life support and nearly three weeks in the hospital. After being discharged, he made efforts to improve his health, but his condition continued to decline. In the months that followed, he was in and out of the hospital until his passing.
Dover was adopted at birth, and Nora was the first blood relative he ever knew. She was the center of his world. Their time together was filled with the moments that matter most, making up games, drawing in chalk, dance parties, and sharing silly jokes. They even wrote songs together. He carried her with him always, including a tattoo of her on his chest.
Toward the end of his life, he spoke about wishing he had more time with her.
Jenny is now navigating life as a single parent and is reducing her work hours so she can be present for Nora during this time, balancing grief, parenting, and financial pressure while doing everything she can to give Nora stability and care.

Dover was a beloved part of the Bay Area music community for over 30 years, performing in bands with many talented musicians, including Whiskey Sunday and Saturday Saints. His impact is deeply felt by those who knew him.
