If you have spent any time with my mom you probably know she's the funniest person in the room always. You probably know her as a preschool teacher, a grandma, a manager, a helper, a friend. You might not know she reads several books a week, has never lost a game of Scattergories, and spends her very limited free time making miniatures for her library. She has raised 5 kids and multiple grand kids to love music and art. During my childhood and well into adulthood she has made every space she's in, a safe space for everybody. She has always helped people. Even before they ask. Even before they know what they need. Like when we were teenagers and she left in the middle of the night to pick up my friend who was kicked out of their house. Or when she was a teacher and gave extra attention and love to kids who didn't get it from home. Even now when she slides a free sandwich to a houseless person at work. She Always helps. She's always there for everybody. But now she needs our help, and she's not one to ask for it.
Recently my mom was diagnosed with stage 3 lung cancer. She has started treatment and we are hopeful that that'll help. But we dont know what the future looks like. I started this fundraiser to try and take some of the financial pressure off of her. She can only work a fraction of the time she was before, and i'd love for her to maintain the minimal hours and rest. But if she's falling behind on bills or unable to afford things she needs, that is unlikely. I know that times are tough for everyone right now. The world is burning and all that. But if you can take a minute to share, or donate even a little. Literally anything helps. This woman hung the moon for me. I just want to show her that we have her back. Like she has always had ours.
