Support Noemi's Battle Against Neuroblastoma

Our names are Martha Piste and Nellie Barrios this account is to help with treatment expenses for our beautiful, 2 year-old, niece Noemi, and on behalf of her parents, Mildred and Rudy Barrios.

Our beautiful Noemi Stephanie Barrios was born on August 2, 2022. Since birth it was apparent that Noemi was a little different and further testing confirmed she has a rare syndrome called Saethre-Chotzen. It was both heartbreaking and shocking for our family to receive this news. This journey has been challenging for our family. But even more so for our little Noemi, our Guerrera (Mexican warrior), who has undergone multiple surgeries to address disorders associated with this rare syndrome, craniosynostosis surgery (on August 23, 2023) and additional surgery to repair her ear, and walking delays, etc.

On August 4, 2024 Noemi was rushed to the ER after experiencing loss of appetite, sweating, and nausea. Initial tests appeared to indicate that there was a mass in her stomach, by her liver. For several hours, Noemi underwent further testing, including scans and a bone marrow tap/biopsy. The doctors confirmed the mass was neuroblastoma cancer, on Noemi’s liver and bones. The cancer is spreading rapidly, it's considered high risk and aggressive. Our family has been devastated by this news.

Noemi's doctors have recommended the best course of intensive treatments, consisting of a chemo, radiation, surgery, and immunotherapy. The doctors estimate that Noemi will require at minimum, 18 months of treatment. Noemi's first day of chemo was on August 19, 2024.

Our family is trying to remain positive and hoping for the best possible outcome. During this difficult time, we welcome and greatly appreciate any support from our family and friends to cover various expenses as we begin this long journey ahead.
