Hello Dear Friends,

My name is Caila, and I’ve created this GoFundMe for my little brother Noel, who is 12 years old.

Noel is an absolute ray of sunshine. He loves school and dreams of becoming a computer engineer. He’s a big anime fan, loves football, and cherishes time with his family and friends.

Noel was born with a blood disorder and has spent much of his life in and out of hospitals. Despite the constant challenges, he’s always been the one to cheer us up, even when he needed the cheering the most.

In 2023, Noel’s health took a serious turn. He began experiencing complications with his liver and started requiring longer hospital stays and more intensive treatments. He has already undergone five ERCPs (Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography) and now receives blood exchange transfusions every two weeks.

This year, we are preparing for two major procedures: a liver transplant, followed by a bone marrow transplant three months later. Alongside this, Noel will undergo high-dose chemotherapy. After undergoing several tests myself,I will be donating my bone marrow to my little brother.

These procedures will take place between hospitals in Ireland and the UK. During recovery, Noel will need to stay in an isolation unit with high-particulate air filtration for 6–8 weeks, followed by up to a year of close monitoring at his hospital in London. He won’t be able to attend school or be in crowded places during this time.

We are grateful that the HSE is covering his medical treatments abroad. However, we’re still facing significant financial challenges. Our mum will be out of work to stay with Noel for the duration of his procedures, and our dad will be traveling back and forth between Ireland and the UK.

Noel was supposed to start secondary school this September with all his friends, but instead, he’ll be in the ICU and miss out on a big part of his childhood for the next 6–12 months.

This journey has brought enormous emotional and financial strain on our family.

Despite exploring every option, the additional costs of travel, accommodation, and creating a calming, clean sensory recovery space for Noel are overwhelming. I’m turning to the kindness of friends, family, and compassionate people to help us through.
