In the early morning hours, tragedy struck the Nob Hill apartments when a fire erupted, quickly filling the building with smoke from the bottom floor upward. Residents were jolted awake by the sounds of fire trucks and the urgent efforts of first responders, who kicked in doors to save those trapped inside. As the building was cleared, two lives were sadly lost, and the remaining residents—traumatized and shaken—were evacuated to a shelter at the community college. Many were unable to retrieve any of their belongings, leaving everything behind in the smoke-filled place they once called home.

Now, more than 70 families, including elderly residents and children, are displaced and have lost everything they owned. The Nob Hill building has long been in violation of safety codes and has been under scrutiny for years, making this tragedy even more devastating for our community. In response, we are coming together to support our neighbors in their time of greatest need.

Funds raised will go directly toward helping these families replace essential items and begin the process of rebuilding their lives. We are also collecting physical donations—clothing, hygiene products, food items, and more—to distribute on weekends. Please join us in helping our neighbors rebuild their lives.
