What up, everyone?
My name is Noah Mehki Vargas and I am raising funds to start my college education at Morehouse College.
I am an Afro-Latino with roots in Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic, a fashion designer, a young activist, a dedicated Pa’lante Peer Leader, and I am trying to be the first one in my family to graduate from college.
I am proud to say that I am graduating from PVPA this spring and have earned admission to the Historically Black College, Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia! I am planning to study business and art, and intend to be an entrepreneur in the future, creating well-paying jobs in our community.
As a Pa’lante Peer Leader since my freshman year, my racial consciousness and political education have expanded, and in the process, it’s become clear to me that I want to be a part of a school that challenges me academically. As a Black man, I deserve to be seen as smart and capable and deserving of respect. I want to be a part of an educational system that strives for greatness as opposed to a lesser education. Ever since reading about Ta'Nehisi Coates experience at an HBCU, I've been dreaming of being a student at one.
Anything we reach beyond my goal to attend Morehouse, I will save for tuition payments. If you know of any scholarships that would be a good fit for me, please send them my way.
- $600 - Deposit to attend Morehouse College
- $200 - Cost of Travel to Atlanta by Amtrak
Note: I'm honored to be organizing this fundraiser in partnership with the one and only Noah Mehki Vargas -- a brilliant leader, committed youth activist, and creative, compassionate soul. Let's bring together the resources to make it happen!
