Hello all.. This is something that I didn't want to have to do, and honestly never thought I'd ever have to.
Most of you know the story, but I'll start from the beginning. My brother, Noah Hardrick, was diagnosed with cancer in April, of 2024. He was diagnosed with kidney cancer, and Multiple Myeloma. The Multiple Myeloma had already spread throughout his whole body. He started chemotherapy and radiation pretty much immediately. He was showing signs of improvement. Some of the tumors were shrinking. But each time they would see those shrinking, they would also find more masses that they hadn't previously seen. He finished his first rounds of chemo and radiation, and played the waiting game. They did more tests and found more tumors. There was one at the bottom of his spine that was concerning. It started protuding from his back, and causing tremendous pain, and was having alot of trouble walking without some sort of assistance. He had good days and bad days, and really bad days. Fast forward to the end of September, he fell down some steps at home, and broke his arm, and had to have surgery to fix it. From that point forward, his health began to go in a downward spiral. His pain was almost unbearable 24/7. He was in the hospital more than he was at home. Toward the end of October, he started losing movement in his left leg. He went to the hospital, and was transported to UofL Hospital, in Louisville. The team there was amazing! They started on him as soon as he arrived. All of the specialists that he would possibly need, was by his bedside, consulting with each other, constantly. They performed an mri and x-rays, and found that his C6 vertebrae was fractured, and a tumor was pushing the broken piece of the vertebrae, into his spinal cord. The next day, he lost movement in his right leg. They did surgery on his neck, and removed the broken vertebrae, and replaced it with a titanium bridge, and then fused the C5 and C7 with rods, to help hold in the new hardware. Without doing this surgery, he would've lost movement in his arms as well. The plan for now is that he will be in the UofL Hospital for approximately 2 weeks, and then be moved to a rehabilitation facility, in Louisville for approximately 3 weeks.. That's where we're at now folks!
And our mom is trying to be the best mom possible, and be with him as much as possible. But she's 71 years old, and well, she's just not in the best health herself.
This has and will of course put a financial strain on our whole family. Trips there and back food and lodging if needed, you know, all the things that can and most likely will be needed. If you find it in your heart to help in any way, please do, it would be greatly appreciated! And please say as many prayers for Noah and his family as you can! It's not over..
