Guess what! I just got into grad school! \^.^/

My time in Thomas Jefferson’s M.ARCH program begins in less than two weeks. I am taking a lot of intro courses about history, technology, and design.

I am ecstatic. I chose architecture back in 2020 when I had the absolute pleasure of attending an IntroARCH Graduate Preparatory Workshop with the Illinois Institute of Technology. Because I have many interests, I know architecture is the discipline I need to develop as an artist, product designer, and as a member of my community.

In 2022, I graduated from Vassar College with an Africana Studies major. That same year I received funding from the Ellen Rudnick ‘72 Student Entrepreneur Fund and I started a studio offering furniture for somatic experiencing: N’ụlọ Adaeze.

Since then, I have developed my offerings with the help of a handful of programs: The Pennsylvania Council of the Arts Creative Entrepreneur Accelerator Program, Future Founders, and Rev: Ithaca Startup Works Prototyping Hardware Accelerator.

I participated in my very first design competition, Creating Connections, with the Better Block Foundation. I placed 2nd!, and I met artists and designers who care deeply about fostering wellbeing in community.

This year, in addition to starting graduate school, I will also be a part of the 2024 Artisan Accelerator Program at NextFab! This is a 9-month long program that includes one year of membership and studio space.

What I look forward to the most in my time at Jefferson is meeting my peers, becoming immersed in design thinking, and growing deeper into my practice. Your financial support goes a long way! Meeting my goal would cover the remainder of my tuition balance, and help me purchase the books and materials I will use in my M.ARCH program.
