Hello! We are NJIT Thillana, New Jersey Institute of Technology's premiere Indian classical dance team. We are currently fundraising for our annual Spring Showcase event on Thursday, April 30th. We are dedicated to the preservation and innovation of ancient art forms. Our annual Spring Showcase is the culmination of a year's worth of discipline and creativity. Each year, we produce a completely original storyline, featuring custom choreography and curated music designed to promote a profound societal message. By blending tradition with contemporary storytelling, we move beyond simple performance to address deep, universal themes that resonate with a modern audience.
Every year, our showcase event pulls in so much of the NJIT student body and is a cornerstone of cultural life at NJIT and in Newark. Historically, our theater costs were covered by the Student Activities Council (SAC); however, due to significant budget cuts, their support has been reduced from $3,000 to $200. We are seeking monetary assistance to ensure this event can continue to serve the Newark and NJIT communities. Funding this showcase is not just an investment in a dance performance, but an investment in growing and supporting NJIT’s multicultural identity.
