To know Nitro is to love Nitro...

Nitro has been my best friend for almost five years now, and throughout this time he has saved my life numerous times- now it's my turn to save his. If you know Nitro, you know he is a special boy and has some medical "quirks", and none of these have posed any real danger in the past. However, since Tuesday night things have gotten quite bad. He is currently in the ICU at the Schwarzen Animal Medical Center in New York and is requiring intensive and aggressive treatment. For now, they don't know what exactly is going on besides that he has signs of multifocal neurological issues. Possibly an infectious brain disease, possibly a form of auto-immune disease, and possibly something totally different. I have trained Nitro to be my service dog and boy do I wish I could have him with me right now, but I am confident that these doctors will help get to the bottom of this and I can bring my boy home soon.

However, this has already cost me all of my savings- and I have only paid for a partial deposit. His vet bill from this visit is quite hefty- already over $10,000...and the bills will likely continue for further treatment. I have been told to consider other options... and not to dig myself into a financial hole. But if you know me, you know Nitro is not just a dog to me. I will do anything and everything to make sure he gets the treatment he needs, but I do need some help. If there is anything you can do to help me bring Nitro back to the silly, goofy guy he is I would be more than appreciative, even if all you can do is send some hopeful thoughts or prayers.

Please, please share this with whoever you know and keep Nitro in your thoughts, he is a fighter and I know he will survive this if I give him the tools to heal and get better.
