Nino is a 6 year old French Bulldog that was rescued by the Conte Family (Nancy, Vince and their son Dominic) when he was 15 months old. He had a bad start to his young life and had severe behavioral issues because of the circumstances he came from. From day one Dominic was an advocate for Nino and determined to make him a part of their family despite the hesitation from his parents. Nino required a lot of time and patience to gain trust from his new family and after years of work from the Conte family Nino has come to trust and love his home, especially Dominic.
On 2/20/25 Nino suffered paralysis after jumping off a bed. He was instantly paralyzed in all 4 limbs with compression of the C3 and C4 of the spine. He was rushed to Cummings Vet Medical Care at Tufts University where he needed to have surgery immediately to have a chance at walking again. He made it through a very extensive surgery but is not out of the woods yet. He will continue to need immense care in order to make it to the other side of this devastating injury.
There was no question that the Conte family was going to do whatever they could to save their beloved dog and the cost of the surgery was not going to stop them. They saved him once when he was just a small puppy and will continue to do what they need to do to take care of this important part of their family. With this surgery Nino has a 90-95% chance of success with the ability to live a normal life again. Unfortunately the cost of this care will be approximately $12,000 or more. The Conte family are a hard working family that puts a lot of energy into caring for others, especially their dogs. They love their pups with all they have and no one should have to decide the fate of their family members because of cost. Let’s give them a hand to help Nino’s road to recovery.
